The Friends volunteers’ welcomed the invitation to attend the Coffee Morning hosted by Reigate Mayor Eddy Humphreys, on the 7th of December. The event brought together volunteers from various local organisations, including Macmillan Cancer Support, Voluntary Action Reigate & Banstead (VARB), Hospital Gardening Team, SASH volunteers, and Friends of East Surrey Hospital.

Held in the historic old Council Chamber, the morning provided a chance for volunteers to gather, enjoy hot drinks, and take part in a locally themed quiz. Questions ranged from the length of the mayor’s mace to hospital-related trivia. We’re pleased to say that one of our Friends volunteers came out on top!

Mayor Eddy Humphreys expressed gratitude for the volunteers’ commitment, sharing a brief history of the Town Hall and offering a tour of the new Court Chambers. Joy Matthews, Volunteer Manager at SASH, extended thanks and presented Volunteer Recognition Awards to all participants.

The event was a lovely occasion, emphasising community spirit and the valuable contributions of our volunteers to our local community.
